We are seeking an Applied Mathematician with expertise in computational methods appropriate for RF propagation, geospatial, and statistical approximation algorithms. Our systems integrate measurements, estimation, and prediction into our network protocols and mesh connectivity solutions. In this role, candidates will develop and use mathematical theories, analytic techniques, modeling, and simulations to solve practical to compute, analyze, and interpret data. A candidate for this position will be a member of the Wind Talker Innovations core engineering team.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Applies mathematical, statistical, and technical knowledge to analyze, investigate, and develop position, navigation, and timing algorithms for use in software products.
  • Utilizes exact and numerical approximation methods to efficiently solve problems.
  • Implements simulations derived from RF radar, comm, and Friss equations.
  • Works closely with software engineers to transition from equations and algorithms to computer software.
  • Develops state estimation equations, algorithms, and tuning parameters for filter-based optimization and prediction models.
  • Generates simulations to test, demonstrate, and refine algorithms.
  • Produces appropriate documentation and technical presentations of findings and communicates results to project engineering staff.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 5-years of experience in developing and tuning state estimation algorithms.
  • Solid understanding of geospatial coordinate references and theory, including earth-centered fixed and inertial models.
  • Experience developing algorithms such as: Kalman filters, stochastic estimation, nonlinear optimization, search-based and trajectory generation-based navigation.
  • Able to characterize the performance of mathematical algorithms and understand how to optimize them for translation into computer algorithms.
  • Experience with modeling and real-time simulations using software tools such as: MATLAB, Mathematica, Simulink, PV-Wave, or similar.
  • Strong background in numerical analysis and able to distill complex theoretical mathematics into practical algorithms for implementation by software engineers.
  • Experience with writing software in a modern computer language (e g. C/C++, Java, Python) strongly desired.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organization skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • “Out of the box” thinker who is details-oriented and possesses excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Able to manage multiple competing projects and tasks in a fast paced, high growth, dynamic environment.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in applied Mathematics, Computer or Physical Sciences.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
