Embedded RF Engineer

We are seeking a professional individual who will serve as an RF Engineer, responsible for prototype design, building, and integration of small for factor networking systems. Engineers in this role will develop multiple network protocols and integrate microprocessors and various RF components into our products. You will work with teams of software and hardware engineers to complete these tasks.


  • Write, maintain, and develop embedded firmware.
  • Write, maintain, and develop software on SDR platforms
  • Write, debug, and integrate drivers, protocols, and other firmware code in on small form factor compute devices.
  • Design, modify, and optimize software and firmware for RF components.
  • Develop Linux device drivers for wireless networking and host applications in multiple programming languages.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with field programmable gate array (FPGA) technologies using VHDL and/or Verilog.
  • Experience with software defined radios (SDR).
  • Extensive experience with communications protocols such as Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C), Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transceiver (UART) protocols.
  • Experience with power management, including adaptive power management techniques.
  • Knowledge of radar/radio theory including beam forming and beam steering technologies.
  • In depth knowledge and experience with Linux internals.
  • Experience with networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP), ad hoc, and mesh networking technologies and architectures.
  • Able to grasp complex problems and clearly communicate with team members.
  • Strong time management and organization skills and able to manage multiple competing projects concurrently.
  • Out of the box thinker; Attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a group in a fast paced, high growth, changing environment.


  • Understanding of digital system design (circuit design, layout, firmware) and circuit and system design for prototype and manufacturing
  • Experience with microcontroller-based systems such as ARM, Cortex M, Atheros, PIC, and similar platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using test equipment such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzers, and similar test equipment.
  • Experience with wireless RF networking, spectrum attenuation, propagation, and signal loss.
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, modifying Digi, Ubiquiti, Marvell, and TI products.
  • Experience with proprietary wireless mesh protocols such as DigiMesh, Zigbee, or similar protocols.
  • Experience with real time operating systems (RTOS) and/or Yocto Project a plus.
  • Experience with programming in C/C++ and Java.
  • Project or program management experience.


  • 5 or more years of experience as an embedded and/or small form factor computing engineering, preferable working with RF/networking devices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
