System Test Engineer

We are seeking a Systems Test Engineer with expertise/experience in testing software and hardware systems and products in a highly distributed, networking domain. As a Systems Test Engineer, you able to develop test plans. track test plans to requirements, execute test plans, collect and distill test data. You work with teams of software and hardware engineers to complete these tasks.


  • Develop test strategies, procedures, and supporting infrastructure and coordinate testing activities and priorities with engineering, project and organizational leadership.
  • Develop, maintain, communicate, and manage the statuses of system test plans and strategies.
  • Plan, orchestrate, and execute field and bench tests according to documented test plans.
  • Maintain traceability between system requirements, test plans, and test activities.
  • Lead and support the development, maintenance, and communication of technical risks.
  • Establish test data collection and benchmark metrics to identify trends and support cross-functional root cause, corrective, and improvement activities.
  • Document and track system defects in our issue tracking system (JIRA).
  • Research and stay abreast of the best practices in test processes, methodologies and technologies.
  • Mentor other team members in testing processes and tools.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with, various testing techniques and tools.
  • Experience with developing system, software, and hardware test plans.
  • Experience testing in an embedded hardware, software, and small form-factor computing environment.
  • Extensive experience in planning and conducting bench and operational field tests for highly distributed, networked products and systems.
  • Experience testing and measuring systemic quality attributes such as performance, availability, reliability, user experience, and so forth.
  • Ability to assist engineers in troubleshooting issues based on test results.
  • Good working knowledge of the Linux operating system.
  • Ability to read, write, and modify test scripts.
  • Ability to instrument tests and collect data.
  • Experience with analyzing test data creating data visualizations using tools such as Excel.
  • Experience with documenting and presenting test data trends, findings, and relationships in a clear, concise way.
  • Conceptual knowledge of high-level computer languages such as C/C++ and Java.
  • Able to read and understand basic electromechanical block diagrams.
  • Able to grasp complex problems and clearly communicate with team members.
  • Strong time management and organization skills and able to manage multiple competing projects concurrently.
  • Out of the box thinker; Attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a group in a fast paced, high growth, changing environment.


  • 5+ years of experience developing and planning test, executing tests, analyzing test data, and documenting results.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
