Wind Talker Innovations is seeking a Technical Documentation Writer who possesses the ability to distil and communicate critical information related to specifications, processes, capabilities, system usage, and control or monitoring requirements obtained through written, verbal and other data sources. The Technical Documentation Writer’s responsibilities include translating business processes and technical requirements into operating instructions and other documentation to be used by team members and external clients of differing knowledge levels. Ideal candidate is experienced in creating various technical documents while ensuring all required stakeholders are engaged and informed and has excellent project and time management skills.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Author User’s Guides, Reference Guides, Manuals and Training Materials
  • Coordinate with engineering and product development teams to create documentation, checklists and procedures necessary for product delivery
  • Define and obtain approval of technical writing scope for the creation or revision of procedure content and communications as requested by the end user
  • Plan for completion of work to determine resource needs that ensure major technical writing milestones and implementation dates are met
  • Draft procedure and communication materials with clear workflow traceability, strategy, controls, and tool usage to ensure end user needs are met
  • Lead discussions to eliminate gaps in procedure content and to ensure compliance with regulatory and company policy requirements
  • Provide clear and consistent updates regarding work in progress to management, raise risks and issues with plans for mitigation with appropriate partners and stakeholders to ensure forward movement

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Capability to deliver under tight deadlines with minimal revisions
  • Editorial skills to ensure procedure/communication content is appropriately formatted with no grammatical, punctuation, or spelling errors
  • In-depth understanding of technical concepts, products and internal tools
  • Ability to write support content for users
  • Expertise to author training materials for employees and vendors
  • Talent to produce well-written content for the internal and external help centers and user communications, including how-to articles, troubleshooting articles, workflows, canned responses, and chat scripts
  • Ability to collaborate with other internal stakeholders to produce quality content and identify documentation requirements
  • Knowledge to analyze content relevancy and user satisfaction
  • Working knowledge of e-learning platforms, SCORM, other LMS’s

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of technical writing experience
  • Influential leadership capabilities with the ability to generate consensus and be decisive
  • Ability to devise strategies and translate objectives into tactical execution plans
  • Strong quantitative and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills and executive presence
  • Ability to coordinate across various business segments and technology disciplines
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Technical Writing Certification a plus

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; emphasis on communications strongly preferred
